Safeguarding
All schools have a clear responsibility placed on them by the Children Act 1989 and by guidance from the Department for Education (DfE) to safeguard the welfare of all their pupils. In doing so, schools are expected to consult with Social Services if they believe there is a possibility that a child may be suffering from abuse or neglect.

KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE IN EDUCATION
Our Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy is available to see on this website (see policies). If we believe a child is at risk, we will take action to protect them in line with our policy and procedures. This may involve a conversation with parents, or may require consultation with, or referral to, Social Services. This action is the reporting of concerns which have come to the school’s attention and it is purely and simply to keep the child safe, which is an aim we hope we share with our parents. This is in accordance with Hertfordshire Child Protection procedures.
Jupiter Primary School maintains a safeguarding culture of vigilance and we carry out enhanced DBS checks on all our staff and volunteers.
If you have a concern about the welfare of a child, you can report it to us.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Jupiter is Mrs Waggeh.
We also have four Deputy DSLs: Mrs Crute-Mussell, Miss Gillingham, Mr Brown and Miss Wadmore.
All of our Safeguarding Team have regular training and all will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns parents/carers may have about Child Protection practice.
Family support
We are also able to offer Support from a Dacorum Family Services Family Support Worker. Please contact our Inclusion Leader, Mrs Crute-Mussell, if you would like some advice on any aspect of parenting or child care. Mrs Crute-Mussell can be contacted via the school office or on enquiries@jupiter.herts.sch.uk
If you have any safeguarding concerns about a child
When members of the public are concerned about the welfare of a child or an unborn baby, they can contact the Hertfordshire Customer Services Centre on 0300 1234 043, who will pass the information to the appropriate Children’s Services Team.
The Police and the NSPCC help lines offer an alternative means of reporting concerns and they will then inform Children's Services of any child protection concerns accordingly.
These reports can be made anonymously.
If a member of the public has immediate concerns for the safety and wellbeing of a child, they should call the Police.
