In June 2020 the government announced additional funding for schools to support children to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.
As a school we monitor the progress of each child carefully and have targeted our spending of our catch-up allocation to impact those most in need, with the intention of closing the gaps created during the lockdown periods. The money has been used for a variety of purposes including:
Training for staff to deliver more effective basic skills teaching, including in writing and phonics.
Resources to allow for more effective basic skills teaching, including for reading and mathematics.
One to one or small group support, intervention or tutoring in school and/or outside of school hours.
