This week we have explored capacity and the terminology that we should use, as part of this learning we went outside to compare and estimate how many of one container it would take to fill a larger container.

This week as part of Science this week explored what materials, every day objects are made of. we sorted between wood, metal, stone, rock, glass and fabric.

Look who held the chicks today!
Today the children looked at an analogue clock and learnt what o'clock and half past looked like......it is trickier than you think!
If your child asks to tell them what the time is please show them an analogue clock rather than a digital, this will help to reinforce their learning. Thank you.

In celebration of World Book Day on Wednesday the children attended a workshop where they were read a very unusual version of Red Riding Hood! We then split into groups and were given our own traditional tales to create a new ending for, whilst acting out our stories. We had great fun!

This week for PE we had some tennis coaching, it was great fun! We started catching a bean bag and then we used a bean bag and racket, we finally had a go with a tennis ball..... its trickier than it looks!

Today as part of Theme we looked at what months traditionally came in each season....we also decided that in this country you could have four seasons in one day!

Today in RE the children talked about Christianity and how the christening or baptism was a welcoming event for the new born child. The children then took turns in roleplaying their own baptism.

Today we created our own season tree using pastels, I'm sure you'll agree they are fantastic!

Today in maths we were learning about money and how that 2 pence is the same as 2 x 1pence. We also found a good technique for counting the value of the coins we have, when it is a 2 pence coin we tap it twice whilst counting.
It is surprising how tricky money can be! but we had a great time finding all the values.

Today in science the children continued to learn about animals and how they moved. The children all had a go at moving like specific animals- Can you guess what animals they are?

Today we spoke about the big 5 and talked about our new theme 'Safari'
The children then create their own class safari scene.
Wednesday 24th October 2018
I theme we have continued to think about industries in Apsley and how they used the canal to move their materials between London and Birmingham. We then looked at how the barges and things on them were decorated.
The children decorated their own watering can or bucket in a similar style, I'm sure you will agree they look fantastic!

Today leading on from our theme learning about industries in the area of Apsley, we had a go at making our own paper.
Thursday 11th October 2018
Today we completed some subtraction calculations, talking about the difference between the two numbers. for example 6-2 =4 so 4 is the difference.
Friday 5th October 2018
Today we had a go at hot seating during Literacy, the children took turns at being in character from our book 'Sidney Stella and the Moon'. whilst the other children asked questions. The children were brilliant at being in character and embellishing the story!

Today we have been looking a medieval panels that are in a house in Potten End, we had a go at creating our own medieval panel inspired by these. We used pastels and experimented with blending them, some of us weren't to keen on having mucky hands!
