I am currently a class teacher at Jupiter Community Free School and have also worked at our schools’ sister school, Hatfield Community Free School, in my first year of teaching. I completed my teaching training at the University of Derby and gained at 2:1 BEd degree in Primary Education with a specialism in Mathematics. Whilst working at Jupiter, I have been lucky enough to continue to use my love and interest in mathematics and am undertaking a Masters level qualification at the University of Hertfordshire to become a Maths Specialist Teacher. This course is enabling me to develop my knowledge and understanding of how primary mathematics should be taught to children, with a view to improving mathematical fluency and reasoning, and also give me the skills to support other members of staff to improve their mathematics teaching.

As a staff governor, my role is to forge links between the governing body and school staff as well as developing my own personal skills set by gaining a crucial insight into the leadership and management of the school. As well as offering my own view points and opinions to the governors, I also sit on the governing body to represent the broad views and opinions of the school staff.

In my free time, I enjoying spending time at my allotment with my husband and my parents. We all enjoy spending time together as a family and delight in the rewards of growing fresh produce to cook with and eat.
